FAQ

What does peak HP mean?

Peak HP is a motor's maximum rating and doesn't reflect continuous suction. Compare it within one brand, and also look at hose diameter. A 2-1/2 in hose moves bulky debris much better than a 1-1/4 in hose.

Do I need a different filter for wet pickup?

Most shop vacs pick up water with a foam sleeve or a wet-rated filter and no paper bag. Check the manual; using a dust bag with water ruins it.

Can a shop vac pick up drywall dust?

Use a fine-dust or HEPA-rated filter (or a bag plus filter). A standard filter lets fine dust blow through and can clog fast.

Why don't you list exact prices?

Amazon prices change daily. We show a relative price tier ($ to $$$$) within this category and link to Amazon for the current price.
